Moisés Navarro, flamenco dance from a Málaga dynasty
Francisco Moisés Navarro Vergara, known artistically as Moisés Navarro or «El Charro», was born in Málaga in 1988. He comes from a family of dancers: he is the son of Francisca Vergara Lechón «Paquita» and Francisco Navarro Cortés «El Charro», so dance was present from his earliest years.
His professional career began very early. At twelve he was already working in tablaos such as Venta Luciano in Granada and Casa Patas in Madrid, beginning a journey that would later take him to the companies of some of the most prominent names in flamenco dance.
From companies to his solo career
At sixteen he made his debut in Mario Maya’s company. Work with Javier Latorre, Rocío Molina and Antonio Canales followed, experiences that broadened his knowledge of the stage and of different ways of understanding dance.
His talent has been recognized with first prizes at the Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Ubrique and the Certamen Andaluz de Jóvenes Flamencos, among other awards. Over time he has also developed his own projects as a dancer and choreographer.
Moisés Navarro at Tablao La Carmela
The tablao is one of the places where he began his career and it remains a natural territory for his dance. The closeness to the audience and the dialogue with the cante and the guitar recover the essence of that early apprenticeship built on the boards.
At Tablao La Carmela, his experience in companies and creative productions meets the freedom of a live flamenco performance, where each contribution depends on the energy shared by the whole cuadro.
A career between roots and creation
Moisés Navarro has combined work within large companies with an evolution toward personal projects. This double experience allows him to approach dance from a knowledge of choreographic discipline and, at the same time, from the spontaneity of flamenco.
His path remains tied to Málaga and to a family dance tradition that is transformed through his own perspective as a performer and creator.
