Juan Andrés Maya was born in the very heart of Granada’s gypsy quarter, Sacromonte. With deep artistic roots—Mario Maya, Manolete, Juan Maya Marote—he has toured the world since the age of 3, becoming a leading figure in flamenco dance and the artistic director of Madrid’s most renowned flamenco tablao.

A historic corner in the very center of Madrid
La Carmela, Madrid’s flamenco tablao, is located in the former coal cellars of the “La Carmela” tavern, inside the old Convent of La Victoria, demolished in 1836 after the Peninsular War.
