SARAY MUÑOZ

Saray Muñoz, a flamenco voice shaped by a unique family history

Saray Muñoz was born in Madrid in 1975 into a family deeply connected to music. She is the daughter of Tina and the niece of Carmela, the members of Las Grecas, a duo that opened its own path by fusing flamenco with other sounds and left a very recognizable mark on Spanish music.

After an early stage tied to the family project, Saray began her own artistic journey. Her career has unfolded between the tablao, major dance companies and musical projects in which flamenco cante coexists with very diverse stage languages.

From Las Grecas to a career of her own

After the death of her mother, Saray re-formed Las Grecas with her aunt Carmela and toured Spain. At twenty-five she decided to leave the group and begin a solo career, joining various Madrid tablaos such as Casa Patas, Al-Andalus, Corral de la Pacheca and Torres Bermejas.

In 2005 she joined Joaquín Cortés’ company in shows such as Mi soledad and Calé, with which she toured internationally. She later worked with Antonio Canales and has collaborated throughout her career with different figures from the worlds of music and flamenco.

Saray Muñoz on the flamenco stage

Her experience in tablaos and companies has allowed her to develop a voice particularly well prepared to accompany movement and respond to the energy of live performance. Her career brings together the musical heritage of her family, work alongside dancers and an identity of her own built over years on stage.

Saray has also been part of the Ballet Nacional de España as a singer, a context that demands musical precision, knowledge of the repertoire and a very close relationship with dance.

A voice between tradition and personality

Saray Muñoz’s cante springs from a singular family history, but her career is not limited to that legacy. Her professional path has taken her through tablaos, companies and large-scale productions, consolidating a recognizable artistic personality.

At Tablao La Carmela, that experience meets an intimate format in which cante, guitar and dance share the same space and build each performance through listening and the emotion of the live moment.
