OLGA LLORENTE

Olga Llorente, technique and expressiveness in flamenco dance

Olga Llorente was born in Barcelona in 1990 and began her dance training at only five years old at La Tani’s school. In 2009 she completed her studies in Spanish Dance at the Conservatorio Profesional de Barcelona, Institut del Teatre.

During her training she broadened her knowledge with artists such as Antonio Canales, Javier Latorre, Farruquito, Eva Yerbabuena, Belén Maya, La Chana, Rafaela Carrasco, Carmen Ledesma and Antonio El Pipa, among others. That diverse learning has built a technical foundation she has since developed on numerous stages.

From the tablao to the Premio Desplante

She made her professional debut as a teenager and began working in different tablaos in Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Madrid and Japan. Throughout her career she has also taken part in theater productions and projects with artists such as Rafael Amargo and Ara Malikian.

In 2019 she won the Premio Desplante Femenino at the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas, one of the most important awards in flamenco dance. This honor is joined by other prizes won since the early years of her career.

Olga Llorente at Tablao La Carmela

The tablao has accompanied a large part of her development as a dancer. In this space, the technical precision of the zapateado must coexist with interpretation, listening to the cante and the ability to respond to the guitar.

At Tablao La Carmela, that experience can be felt up close. The format lets you observe both the footwork and the changes of intention, silences and nuances that build the dance.

Dance of strength and control

Olga Llorente has been recognized for her technical command and for an expressive, passionate way of dancing. The combination of academic training, learning with maestros and tablao experience has created a performer able to move among different stage formats.

Her career continues to be tied to creation, choreography and live performance, keeping flamenco at the center of a language in constant evolution.
